The Olympos Teleferik aerial lift was built within three years by the leading companies Doppelmayr and Garaventa. It was put into operation for the first time on June 17, 2007.

The name of the cable car is derived from the name of Mount Olympus, which in ancient times was considered as the abode of the Greek gods. The local inhabitants considered it to be “Mount Olympus” because of its impressive height.
