What Can I Do at Kaputaş Beach?

Below steep cliffs hides a bay and a small paradise...Kaputaş.

This bay near Kaş has long ceased to be an insider's tip. It consists of the 150 meter long Kaputaş Beach with golden, fine-grained sand, turquoise seas and a meter-high cliff.

A long and steep staircase with 187 steps leads you from the coastal road down to the bay, where one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean awaits you.

The picturesque natural beach is run by the municipality of Kaş. It's unspoiled and therefore a beautiful destination for swimming and sunbathing. The transition from sand to sea is announced by small pebbles.

The water is comparatively cooler due to the spring water that flows here. The fact that it becomes quite deep after 8 to 10 meters is quite unusual.

Umbrellas and sunbeds are usually available only during the high season, for a fee. Showers, toilets, and changing rooms are available on site. A small snack bar caters to visitors needs, with refreshments, snacks, and ice-cream.

This turquoise paradise is very popular among locals as well as tourists from all over the world. For this reason, there can be a large number of visitors, especially in the high season.

The bay is also a trendy destination for cruise ships that stop here. Therefore, the crystal clear bay can also be wonderfully visited with a boat trip. On this occasion, you can also discover the fascinating caves in the area. One of the most famous is Blue Cave. You can reach from the beach by walking.

Before going down the stairs to the beach, it's worth taking a photo with Kaputaş Beach in the background. The picturesque scenery with the bright turquoise sea resembles a postcard motif and is one of the most Instagramable places in Turkey.

Blue Cave

The Blue Cave is not far from the island of Kekova. It's one of the most popular sights in the area. The former pirate cave owes its name to the bright blue color of the water, which always amazes visitors.

You can discover this natural wonder only by boat. Due to the strong current around the mouth of the cave, it's not recommended to swim here from the nearby Kaputaş Beach. There are a lot of boat tours from Kaş and Kalkan that will bring you here.

You can swim through the small opening in the cliff face and have a close look at the impressive cave. Thanks to the incoming rays of the sun, the place is bathed in an iridescent sapphire blue, which is almost magical.

There might be quite a few fish swimming around you. Bats are also not uncommon in this cave.

Even non-swimmers can visit the Blue Cave by paddling inside with a canoe.
