The History of Lower Düden Waterfall

This waterfall from the Düden River got this name because it flows under ground. The name of the Düden River in ancient times was Katarrhaktes.

It's one of the important rivers in the Mediterranean Region, although its length is only 15 km. The water in the river comes from springs 40 km away, flowing underground.

The water rises to the surface in a place called Düdenbaşı and continues on the surface until it reaches the sea. There are two Düden Waterfalls: Upper Düden Waterfall and Lower Düden Waterfall.

Lower Düden Waterfall (Karpuzkaldıran) falls from a height of 40 meters into the sea via Lara road, where the Düden River reaches the sea.
