Antalya Kart in Antalya in Turkey (Editorial)

In the last few years, Turkey has been massively improving its infrastructure and now allows visitors and locals to use the latest technologies. Although the commute systems are quite similar to other cities in Europe, there are tips for quicker access and smoother travel.

In Antalya, the infrastructure is quite modern. The most important tip is about the AntalyaKart, an access card that will provide you great freedom to move around the city and use public transport. You will be able to travel cheaper with the card and free your mind of unnecessary worries concerning transport.

In this article, you will find important information about transport in Antalya and the AntalyaKart, including where to get it, how much it costs, and what it's used for.

What Is the AntalyaKart?

The Antalya Kart is a card that is valid on all public buses and trams in Antalya. This is the card that allows you to move easily around the city. In fact, you can't use public transportation in Antalya without it.

The credit card-sized card is made of plastic and very easy to carry. If you are a regular visitor to Antalya, you can keep the card and reuse it whenever you come back to the city.

Purchasing and Refilling Your AntalyaKart

The AntalyaKart can be purchased at authorized points of sale all around the city.

  • Many kiosks sell the AntalyaKart in the city. You can usually see it on the signs.
  • There are two points of sale in the airport that are open 24 hours a day.
  • You can buy the card from some vending machines mainly located around tramway stations and major bus stations. Here, you can load the card, too.

You can refill your AntalyaKart at any of these places. To do so, place the card on the designated viewing area, insert the banknote into the slot and wait until the new credit added to the card is displayed on the screen.

Cost of the AntalyaKart

To get your AntalyaKart, there is a one-time fee. You can find the current rate of the AntalyaKart here.

The card is not nominative, so no photo or proof of identity is required. After the purchase, the card can be loaded as desired and used by several people at the same time.

If you want to have a personal AntalyaKart with a photo, you must apply for one at the central office, Çallı ve Doğu Garajı Kart Merkezi. For this, you need to fill out an application and provide an identity document. There is an additional one-time fee for nominative cards.

    • Dear Daria, kids under 6 years of age can go for free on public transport. As the HES code is connected to the AntalyaKart, it’s not possible to pay for two people with one card. Everybody needs its own card. Hope, this answered your question. Feel free to contact us, if you need more support. Wish you a nice stay in Antalya.

  • Is it possible to register in the app by having only my number from abroad? Or do i need only Turkish cell phone number to be able to use the app fully?

    • Dear Jay, you don’t need a local phone number for registering in the app. The registration is not connected to any phone number. Hope, this answered your question. Feel free, to contact us any time in case you need more support. Have a nice stay in Antalya!

      • Hello… if i don’t have a turkish phone number than how can i send the message to 2023 from my foreign number? i will be visiting Antalya in two weeks

        • Hello Rodolph,
Thank you for reaching out. If you don’t have any Turkish GSM number as a foreign visitor, you can get your HES Cod with sending your passport information by SMS by using your phone to +90555 944 3821 including HES, nationality, passport serial number, year of birth and surname. It should be like follows: the text HES following by the Country of Origin (IRN), passport number, year of birth (only the year), last name and the number of how many days you need to use the HES code.
          Example: HES USA F123456 1900 EXAMPLE 30

Please let me know if it worked.
Wish you a lot of fun during your holiday and a wonderful stay in Turkey. Don’t hesitate to contact us in case you have any more questions.

    • Hi Abdulrazzaq,
the easiest way will be to buy a “normal” Antalyacard also for your kids. You can get it at vending machines mainly located around tramway stations and major bus stations or at some kiosks. Also at the airport, there are two points of sale that are open 24 hours a day.
The fare reduced cards are only valid for Turkish students.
      Hope, this helps you.
Please let me know, if you have any further questions.
Wish you a nice stay and a lot of fun in Antalya!

  • Hi, I try to make match the kart with my HES code and Belgian Idcard number but this is one number longer than a turkish id kart number and it doesn’t match. Who can help me please?

    • Hi Annie, thank you for your comment. As a foreign citizen, you need to get a Turkish ID number. Match with Belgian Idcard number will not work.
      Please proceed like follows:
Foreign tourist can get their HES by sending a short SMS message to 2023. The message must be structured as follows: HES (free space) Nationality (free space) Passport serial number (free space) Year of birth (free space) Surname (free space) Number of days for which the code is needed.

      Here’s an example:

Mr. Mustermann, a German citizen with passport number XY123456789, born in 1975, would like to apply for a HES code for 10 days.

His short message to 2023 would look like this:
      HES DEU XY123456789 1975 MUSTERMANN 10

      Hope, this helped you.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Wish you a nice stay in Antalya and a lot of fun in Turkey!

    • Dear Neol,
most probably, you should replace your card into a new one. You can apply to any kiosk or to one of the points of sale in the airport that are open 24 hours a day.
Please let me know if you need further support.
Have a nice stay in Antalya!

  • Hello:
My HES code expire in the card I tried to Add a new one it doesn’t except I don’t know the problem.

    • Dear Hasina, thank you for your comment. Once you have your HES code, you will need to link it to your AntalyaKart. To do this, please visit the following website: https://hes.antalyakart.com.tr/
A screen opens with three input fields, HES code, passport number, and number on your AntalyaKart. After giving explicit consent, the process is completed by clicking the “Define” field. The website is also available in English.
      Hope, this helps you
Wish you a nice stay in Antalya and a lot of fun in Turkey!

  • We used the card and now we want to reload it online but we don not receive a text message with code… we insert our (dutch) mobile number… but none of the numbers we used succeeded to receive a code… we stay in royal seginus in Lara kundu, where else can we reload the Card in our neighbourhood?

    • Dear Nancy, thank you for reaching out. The refill will not work with a foreign tel number, however, you can refill your AntlayaKart at the vending machines mainly located around tramway stations and major bus stations. You can refill your AntalyaKart at any of these places. To do so, place the card on the designated viewing area, insert the banknote into the slot and wait until the new credit added to the card is displayed on the screen.
Hope, this answered your question. Feel free, to contact us any time in case you need more support.
Wish you a nice stay in Antalya and a lot of fun in Turkey!

      • Thank you for the quick answer.. but can you also tell me when i am staying at royal seginus where the nearest vending machine is located?

        • Dear Nancy, the nearest vending machine is located at the bus station nearby the hotel. In case it doesn’t work, do not hesitate to get on the bus, even if you could not charge the card. Most drivers are happy to help and accept cash as an exception. Otherwise, other passengers will stamp for you, you can give them the money for it.
You may also refill the AntalyaKart online, but you need to get the resp. App to do so. The video shows refilling procedure, it’s Turkish only, but maybe helpful anyhow, as the pictures show the process clearly.

    • Dear Jürgen,
thank you for your request. As this is the official website from Turkish government, we are not able to change anything there. You may try to enter your passport no without the first or the last digit. Frankly spoken, I don’t know any other solution.
      Hope this will work.
I wish you a lot of fun in Antalya and a save flight back home
      Best Heike

    • Hi John,
thank you for reaching out. As the Antalya card is not personalised any more, also your wife can use it. Wish you a good health, a nice stay in Antalya and a safe flight back home

  • Merhaba.
    1. When you say Antalya, are you referring to Antalya province or Antalya city? I ask because I would like to travel around the province by using public transportation.
    2. I have been looking for a current map of Antalya city and have not been able to find one. I did find an old map (Antalya Şehir Planı) City Plan of Antalya at the Antalya Archeology Museum. I was told to go to a stationary store, but the stores that I found did not have maps.
    3. Where can I learn how to read the bus and tram schedules? I have been using Google Maps to locate a bus or tram or train to get to where I need to go, but I often wait 30 to 60 minutes for a ride. I see people coming to the bus stop and get on the next bus! I wonder how they knew that their bus would arrive minutes after they arrived. I have looked at the AntalyaKart app and it is very confusing for me. Using public transportation is new for me.

    • Hi Laura,
      thank you for reaching out.
The use of public transportation in Antalya requires the Antalyakart. You cannot pay with a contactless credit card for travel in bus, however you can use your credit card for buying the Antalyacard.

      Hope this helped you
Wish you a lot of fun in Antalya, a nice stay in Turkey and a safe flight back home.

  • I came on here just to say that as a 43 year old woman who does not drive & uses buses at home to, been travelling for years all over the world, i travel on a budget so taxi’s are a no no for me, visiting Antalya in august I was disappointed with the buses overcrowded no space to sit the poor locals, they don’t come on time, no signs in English we can’t mind read because Antalya is full of tourists, the bus drivers very rude know no English. Absolutely disgusted.

    • Dear Saika,
thank you for reaching out and for your sharing your experiences with us.
we are very sorry that you felt so bad in Antalya. Public transport in Turkey is unfortunately very crowded. As a world traveller, you have most probably had similar experiences in other countries and know that you cannot take German standards for granted abroad, as the living situations and educational standards can be very different. As a woman with vision, you are undoubtedly aware of this.
We hope that you nevertheless had a nice holiday in Turkey, enjoyed the beauties of the country as well as the hospitality of the locals, which cannot be found in Germany.
Wish you a safe flight back home

    • Dear Seyed,
thank you for reaching out. According to the new rules, people 65+ get free bus ride only 4 days per month.
Hope, this information is helpfull for you
